It's funny what cities are marked on that map and what aren't. Pasadena is marked, but Houston isn't. I'd expect Austin to be ignored in favor of San Antonio, but the mission city is missing as well. Philadelphia, Phoenix, Houston, and San Antonio are all among the ten largest cities in our nation-state and are all absent from the map.

It's often pointed out that San Antonio is the 7th largest city in the states and the second poorest, suggesting its off the cultural map since it's poor and brown. This could certainly be the case for Philly as well...

I wonder about the logic, because Atlanta isn't on the map, and it's certainly big enough and wealthy enough to be a major city. But McAllen, Texas, which is smaller and certainly less recognizable in our cultural lndscape is marked.

Denver and Saint Louis are also missing, while Fort Collins, Colorado, and Springfield, MO, are listed. It's a strange little map.
