Back in the A-T-L

Just returned from the MLA conference in San Diego where I had a great time catching up with old friends and meeting several of the people whose blogs I read. Right now, after a long flight, I'm very tired, so I'll save the details for later. Possible continued light blogging as I begin gearing up for spring semester (which starts one week from today at Georgia Tech).

Glad you made it home safe, Chuck. It was great to see you in San Diego.

See you next year in Philadelphia?

Yikes. That is way too soon to start the semester.

Did you happened to see Stacey at MLA? What ever happened to him? Is he still around in academia?

He wasn't at MLA this year (at least not as a registered participant), but it seems Stacy is doing very well. Most of this info is secondhand (I haven't talked to him in a while), but I do know that he has a book on punk coming out via SUNY Press, and he's still teaching at UW-Eau Claire.

Tech semesters seem to start one week earlier than everyone else. We do get done earlier, but that really doesn't compensate for winter holidays. Between prepping for MLA and family time, I really don't feel like I've had a holiday break.

George,

You can probably count on me being in Philly next year.
