Sounds, Images, and Words

A few things I've been listening to, watching, and reading in recent days:

I'd also like to address the ongoing discussion between "Winston" and the Wordherders (who as George illustrates are far from a group of "incestuous Marxists"), in part because I feel like the issues that have been raised (regarding conversations between conservative and liberal and/or leftist academics) are important and deserve my full attention, but MLA is a more pressing concern right now.

Oh, I LOVED Something's Gotta Give. I'd recommend it to anyone. Another movie I've seen this holiday season that I thought was good is Paycheck. In my opinion, it's hard to mess up a Philip K. Dick story. I would kind of like to see Stuck on You too.

I'm looking forward to "Paycheck," despite the presence of Ben Affleck. P.K. Dick is a personal favorite--I've taught three of his novels at various points--and the time and memory issues (triangulated through cinema and digital technologies) are major hot-button issues for me.
