Birthday 2005
Today's my birthday, and like Collin, I've been thinking a lot about time, calendars, and age often this week. For some reason, I've been agonizing about this birthday more than usual. Like last year, I think it's worth noting that I'm happy with the decisions I made, that I've become the person I am and not the person I expected (or wanted) to be when I was in high school and college.
And I can always console myself with the fact that Teri Hatcher, Kim Basinger, and I share the same birthday. That's gotta count for something, right?
Update: I shoul probably also mention that I share a birthday with Gregg Allman, Jim Morrison, David Carradine, and Mary, Queen of Scots, among others.
Update 2: One more for the list (via Green Cine): Hans-Jürgen Syberberg turns 70 today. I think we've found the director for the imagined screenplay discussed in the comments below.

Wow, your co-birthdays are a lot better (hotter) than mine. Happy birthday, Chuck!

Happy Birthday, Chuck! (Would that I were with you, celebrating, rather than grading papers.)
I hold up my coffee cup in a virtual toast and salute to you, homey.
Have a great day, and here's to a great year, as well,
-- Mike

Happy Birthday Chuck!

Happy Birthday, Chuck... Your list of fellow December 8ers is begging for a screenplay, you know.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, and yeah, Collin, I was somewhat surprised at my co-birthdays.
Good luck grading, Mike. I'll be doing the same on Monday.

Happy Birthday, but the important question is which one of those would you most like to be reincarnated as?

Happy birthday, Chuck!
I share a birthday with Barry Manilow and Newt Gingrich. I think you have me beat.
Posted by: Michael at December 8, 2005 1:27 PM
Dave, I've got just the screenplay. I'll have my people call Teri's people and Kim's people.
Jonathan, tough call. I think I'll dodge your question by mentioning that I also forgot to mention that Sammy Davis Jr and Diego Rivera also share a b-day with me.
Michael, your co-birthdays do have some kitsch value, at least. John Hughes films can even make jokes about Manilow. And I'd rather than share a birthday with Gingrich than a Congressional district (like I did for several years).

Other members include Woody Allen, John Cassavettes, Greg Araki, Amir Motlagh, Yasujiro Ozu, and of course yours truly. And all this time you thought your interest in cool film was accidental huh? Best of luck in the coming year.

Happy birthday!
Today's also the 25th anniversary of John Lennon's death. :-(
Posted by: McChris at December 8, 2005 4:07 PM
McChris, I thought about mentioning that fact, but for some reason refrained from doing so, I think because his murder is hard to separate from my childhood memory of learning that news on my birthday.
Sujewa, maybe you're right about Sagitarrian cinephilia. After all, it's usually too cold to do anything else during December, at least around here.

Chuck, I hope you remembered to send Teri and Kim cards, remembering to include playful but suggestive notes.
Happy Birthday!

Chuck -- late in the day, but happy birthday nonetheless.

Thanks for the b-day wishes....

Good points about the kitsch value ... and about Gingrich!

Hey Chuck, belated Happy Birthday wishes!

Michael, I might have your match on bad Republican politician co-birthdays. It turns out I share a birthday with future jailbird Duke Cunningham.
Posted by: Chuck at December 9, 2005 10:34 AM
Well, that takes the cake (birthday pun intended). Cunningham is truly a piece of work.
Posted by: Michael at December 9, 2005 12:54 PM
Yes, happy belated!
Posted by: Clancy at December 9, 2005 8:59 PM
Clancy, thanks for the card and the excuse to spend a few minutes perusing Bust Magazine.
Posted by: Chuck at December 9, 2005 11:06 PM
belated Happy Birthday back at you! Hope yours was as nice as mine.
My co-birthdayers are Jean-Luc Godard and Julianne Moore. And Carlotta in Vertigo - if you look closely at her tombstone, the evidence is there...
Posted by: Laura from Sills Bend at December 11, 2005 2:59 AM
Wow--I noticed JLG's birthday a few days ago, but Carlotta from Vertigo is a great one.
Posted by: Chuck at December 11, 2005 9:33 AM
Happy birthday. Sorry I'm a little late. Both JFK and Michael Hutchence (of INXS) died on my birthday. And Margaret Thatcher left office that day too.
