New York Suggestions?
My fall tour ends this weekend with a trip up to New York for a wedding. My family and I will be in the city Friday afternoon, Saturday night, and Sunday morning, if I remember correctly, so if anyone has any suggestions about touring exhibits, new museums, restaurants, or other cool (family friendly) things, I'd love to hear them.

I have some suggestions. MoMA won't be open yet which is too bad as it was AMAZING and is totally worth the $20 ticket (well, I still think its too high but the new gallery space is ginormous). I suggest the Frick museum: http://www.frick.org/ as it is smallish and has lots of crowd-pleasing masterworks. The met is always good, if overwhelming. There is also a show at American Fine Art curated by my advisor and about the Election. If its still up you might find it interesting but you should call to find out. Its in Chelsea which has plenty of good galleries. I suggest Printed Matter which is on 28th st (the same street as American Fine Arts, I think). I hope this is helpful.

Thanks, Sienna. I would've gone straight for MoMA but knew it would be closed. There's a show at the Met that my family was interested in seeing, but I'd prefer checking out more contemporary stuff...

Hey Chuck,
For a cheap, delicious meal (veg' and other) on an interesting block of the Lower East Side, you might try The Dojo. It's on St. Marks between 2nd and 3rd avenues. It's on the south side of the street, 'bout half way down. I took Judy, Sarah, and Jenny there during CCCC NYC. We all enjoyed it.

Don't know if you are into the musical side of the theatre, but at the Ford theatre, if you get a chance to see Ragtime, it is pretty great... And, it sounds weird, but the lobby bar of the Crown Plaza in Times Square had a great scene...

Thanks for the suggestions. Dojo sounds cool. Wish I had a bit more time in the city...

I am so dumb, November 20th is Saturday, right? MoMA opens that day, and its free, and probably really really crowded but worth a try (it's also open on Sunday). Thanks for the advice re: my studies.

Thanks for the reminder, Sienna. I might try to avoid teh crowds given my limited amount of time. Glad I could be of some help...
