Summer Solos

I just learned that a colleague of mine here at Georgia Tech has an exhibition at Atlanta's Contemporary Art Center. The exhibit, Summer Solos, pairs the work of Michael Oliveri, Chair of the Digital Media program at the University of Georgia, and Prema Murthy, a Fellow at the Wesley Center for New Media at Georgia Tech.

It is nice to see The Contemporary focusing on local artists for a change. For another good show check out "The Man Show" at GSU Gallery.

Thanks for the tip. I've heard good things about the GSU show. I'll try to dig up a link to the show and give it a little extra publicity.

Summer Solos ends on August 7th. More about the exhibit and a link to the web gallery can be found here -- http://thecontemporary.org/pages/gallery/gallery_currex.html

About local artists at the Contemporary --

The Contemporary consistently shows the work of local artists. Witness previous exhibits like "So Atlanta" which featured the work of many local artists; before that "Under Different Circumstances" included Imi Hwangbo of Athens along with an international group. Last year's Summer Solos featured Jim Barsness, David Eisenhour from Athens and Alanta respectively; concurrent to that the work of Yun Bai was on dispaly in the East Gallery. The list goes on; Benita Carr, Evan Levy and Susan Bridges, Alex Kvares, Nancy Floyd, etc...

The mission of the Contemporary includes exposing the work of local artists, but we would do the local artistic community a disservice by not striving to bring challenging, exciting work from far beyond the Atlanta Metro Area.

A list of previous exhibits can be found here -- http://thecontemporary.org/pages/gallery/gallery_pastex.html

Thanks
