Meet Up at Manuel's

Just returned from a Democratic MeetUp at Manuel's Tavern. After a slow start, the meeting ended up being very productive, and I appreciated the opportunity to meet some of the local Democratic candidates. Most pundits have already written off Georgia, with this New York Times calling the state "virtually hopeless." But even if we can't win Georgia, sentiment around the room was that if we are active in getting out the vote, we can at least make Bush work harder (and hopefully spend more money) in Georgia.

We also discussed ways of focusing on several local races where we can make a difference by supporting progressive candidates, something in the spirit of the Dean Dozen, but on a local, state-wide level. It's hard to avoid sounding like a cheerleader, but I was encouraged by the energy and the attempts to put it to productive use.

Stop trying to stalk me. I was at Manuels in the Eagle's nest for a YDF meeting. Heh.

You know, I figure if I keep showing up at MeetUps I'm bound to meet you eventually....

I actually ran into another Atlanta blogger I've been reading but didn't want to mention that person without asking....Not sure why anyone would mind, but you never know....

Another Atlanta blogger? How exciting! Do tell...

I've always wondered what etiquette was for mentioning other bloggers and writers you meet in person, particularly if they run a more "serious" site (a bogus word IMHO) or are professional writers, and you run a goofy pirate-themed site.

Rusty: I've become a little more self-conscious about this lately, especially since I've begun getting higher traffic (usually because of odd Google searches--right now I'm getting tons of Cliff Oxford hits), so unless meeting up was intentional/planned, I usually ask first. I think that *most* bloggers like being mentioned, though, and I'm always happy to be mentioned, even on a "goofy pirate-themed site."

Chris, it was certainly cool meeting you, and I'm sorry about bumping you from the AJC's "local blog" list.

AJC sent me an email this morning, saying that, "Thanks for submitting your blog. We like it, but can't link to it due to the profanity. Sorry about that." For some reason, I get some pleasure out of that.

That's very weird. Less than a week ago, I wrote an entry w/some big-time profanity in it....In an odd, way, I'm kind of jealous.

Maybe they didn't search that far back? I have profanity up right now, though one of the posts is me copying someone else's profanity laced comments.

You bumped me off the list? Now I want to use some profanity.
